What is an invoice?
An invoice is the document a seller sends to ask a customer to pay for goods or services. It lists what was sold, the price, any tax, the total and the date by which to pay. It is also your record of the sale.
How to make one here
- Choose Invoice, then type your business name and the customer's name.
- Add each item with its quantity and rate. The total updates as you type, and you can click any text on the document to edit it directly.
- Open the optional groups to add your PAN/VAT, logo, due date, VAT, discount and how customers can pay you.
- Download the PDF, share it, or enter the customer's email and send it.

- A unique invoice number
- Issue date and due date

What is a receipt?
A receipt is the document a seller gives after payment to confirm that the money was received. It shows the amount, the date, how it was paid and what it was for. Keep it as proof of payment.
How to make one here
- Choose Receipt, then type your business name and who paid.
- Add what was paid for, with quantity and rate, or a single line such as "Rent for Kartik".
- Open "Number, dates…" to choose how it was paid, and add the invoice number if this settles an invoice.
- Download the PDF, share it, or email it to the person who paid.

- Name of the person who paid
- Receipt number and date
- What the payment was for
- The amount received
- How it was paid: cash, bank, eSewa…

What is a bill?
A bill is the paper a seller hands over at the time of a sale, usually at the counter. It lists what was bought and the total, and often shows it has already been paid. For the buyer it is also the amount they owe.
How to make one here
- Choose Bill and type your business name. The customer name is optional.
- Add the items you sold, with quantity and rate.
- Add VAT or a discount if needed, and choose how it was paid.
- Download or share it, and email it if the customer wants a copy.

Questions
Is this invoice, receipt and bill generator really free?
Yes. You can create, download and email as many documents as you like. There is no sign-up. Every document carries a small "Created at billsil.com" line.
Are the documents saved on your servers?
No. Documents are built in your browser. Only when you press "Email to customer" is the document sent to our mail server to be delivered, and it is not stored.
Can I send it on WhatsApp?
Yes. On most phones the Share button opens your share sheet with the PDF attached, so you can pick WhatsApp, Messenger, email or any other app.
Can I save it as a PDF?
Yes. Press "Download PDF", then choose "Save as PDF" as the printer in the window that opens.
Is this a VAT-compliant tax invoice for Nepal?
It has the standard fields: seller and buyer details, PAN or VAT number, a unique number, date, itemised lines, tax and total. If you must issue official tax invoices, use IRD-approved billing software and check the exact format with your accountant.
